The top of the world, Mount Everest, offers a widespread enthusiasm and fascinates the human mind, just by its glimpse. On offer in this trek are the highly intriguing glimpse of mountainous range, and the warm hospitality of the local inhabitants to name a few. The view of the icy pinnacles of the Himalayan extravaganza after short treks provides retreat from the daily chaos of city life and the hunt for survival. The trip commences shortly after arrival at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, followed by a walk in the whereabouts of the mystical Himalayas of Northern Asia.

On arrival after a short trek is Namche Bazaar, a famous Sherpa village in the midst of the Himalayas which then continues towards the trip to Tengboche Monastery. Mesmerizing is the view of Ama Dablam hovering in the sky, as can be seen from the region. Following the trails leads you over the glaciers towards the foot of Mount Everest for a view.

The major focus of this trip is to reach the Everest Base camp, via Gorakshep and to reach the view point at Kalapatthar(5545 m), which is located as a big bump on the south of Mount Pumori. Pumori, which means “Unmarried Daughter” in the dialect of the local inhabitant Sherpas, is often referred to as Everest’s Daughter. On view from Kalapatthar, on a clear day, is the rocky west face of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and the mountain pass between Everest and Nuptse. Another spectacle is the view of the Khumbu glacier hurling down the heart of the Himalayas.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01: - Breakfast followed by a short early flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2850 m AMSL) and a trek to Phakding (2640 m AMSL)
  • A short 35 minutes of flight to the air-strip at Lukla actually opens all doors to possibilities and prospects of Himalayan exploration and adventure. The Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla was coined collectively after Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary, the first human step to successfully scale Mount Everest, in 1953. Attracting many well-experienced to novice mountaineers from all around the world and willing to pay substantial sums for a successful expedition, the Tenzing-Hillary Airport is the gateway to the Khumbu region, and ultimately to Mount Everest. Due to the unpredictable weather in the Khumbu region, almost all flights are concentrated in early mornings.
After catching up with the trek crew in the airport and getting updates on various details, the journey continues towards the highest peak of the world. After an hour of walk on a straight trail, a small village of Chaplung is encountered. This is where the main trail from the west meets the trail from Lukla on approach to Mount Everest. The walk continues for another two hours to reach Ghat, and it finally ends at Phakding after an hour more. The day comes to a halt after reaching Phakding and an overnight stay in a local lodge accompanied by great local cuisine, imported and local spirits and hospitality on offer makes you forget the tiredness of the trip for the rest of the day.
  • Day 02: - Trek from Phakding to Namche (3450 m AMSL)
  • Day two of the trip begins shortly after breakfast, with some catching up with the trekking crew. Trailing down towards the Bhotekoshi River and crossing a long suspension bridge over the Bhotekoshi River, Jorsele is the next destination after crossing the bridge and a walk of about two hours along the straight trail, passing a forest and few villages. Everest National Park check post, located at Jorsele welcomes you to the Khumbu Region and the national park permits are checked. Beyond this point, no firewood is allowed. Following the trail, the path drops steeply, and reaches a long suspension bridge to cross the Dudh Koshi River. Continuing on the straight trail for an hour more, the terrain becomes a bit steep. Going through various difficult terrains, a forest and several other Sherpa villages for almost two hours, the team reaches Namche Bazaar. Namche is a great spot for the first close glimpse of the mesmerizing beauty of Mount Everest.
The day comes to an end with a warm and hospitable welcome to a guest house by the local Sherpas, and the aroma of local cuisine, imported and local spirits.
  • Day 03: - Rest Day at Namche.
  • Looking at the effort put in by all in the team, this day marks the day of rest, the acclimatization day. Due to change in weather, altitude and the rigorous exercise of walking terrains, a day is taken off the schedule for the guests to rest and enjoy, or then to have a picturesque excursion to Khumjung village. The major aim of this day is to prevent any possible AMS signs, which may hamper the rest of the trip.
The day ends in a local guest house with hospitable welcome, good food, great spirits and plenty of rest.
  • Day 04: Trek from Namche to Tengboche (3860 m AMSL)
  • Day four begins with new enthusiasm because of all the rest achieved off the previous day. You would leave for Tengboche, following the trail that traverses from Choi Gang to Kyanjuma Foundation, where the descent to the suspension bridge across Dudh Koshi River begins. After crossing the bridge and passing a few tea houses, the trail reaches Phungi Tenga. A pleasant walk uphill begins, pointing towards the next destination. Passing through a blend of forest and shrubs on a wide trail, you will get a great chance to spot Pheasants, Tahr and Deer. At the end of the climb, you would reach a Kani, an arched entrance with ceiling paintings of deities and forms of Lord Buddha, which is believed to cleanse people of the many feared spirits before entering the sacred region in the Himalayas. Three hours of the pleasant trail and the catch is the best glimpse of the Himalayas including Mt. Everest, Amadablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, Thamserku and Kangi Tenga, an opportunity to spot local animals of the region and to visit the famous Tengboche Monastery.
The day ends in a local guest house, with taste-bud-tingling food, superb spirits in the cold weather and the warm hospitality of the locals.
  • Day 05: Trek from Tengboche to Pheriche (4280 m AMSL)
  • Day five begins with a trek in the trail on a gently sloping track, which then climbs up becoming steep. Following the trail and passing a few small dwellings and a forest, you reach Pangboche. Pangboche is a small Sherpa village, and is renowned for its monasteries. It is also proclaimed that the scalp and the digits of the hands of the mystical creature Yeti, is kept safe in this Monastery. Passing the beautiful meadow fields and several tea houses, you finally reach Pheriche, after 3 hours of trek from Pangboche.
The day ends here and the team camps for the night in the laps of the Himalayas.
  • Day 06: Rest day at Pheriche
  • After walking for two days after you left Namche, it’s time when the body deserves some rest. The sixth day is a free day, when you can rest or then roam around in the whereabouts of Pheriche, and enjoy the natural surroundings taking memorable photographs.
  • Day 07: Trek from Pheriche to Lobuche (4940 m AMSL)
  • Day seven begins with a trek through the meandering trail through a beautiful valley on a fair day, towards Lobuche. The branching of a trail track on the left of the main trail sets off directly towards the bridge to Tukla over a few slippery boulders, while the main trail converges with the trail from Dingboche, minutes before the bridge to Tukla. The journey then continues with the climb of the ridge behind Dingboche following one of the many trails to the elevated plain, which leads to the bridge across Tukla. The trek gets tough on the immediate hill, and followed by a gentle climb for two more hours, you finally reach Lobuche.
  • Day 08: Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5170 m AMSL) to Kalapatthar (5545 m AMSL) and return to Gorakshep
  • Day eight marks the longest of all trips and takes about 8 hours to climb up to Kalapatthar and back. The trek towards Gorakshep is a gentle climb which takes about four hours. Beyond Gorakshep, the demanding climb on the steep terrain towards Kalapatthar begins, which may take up to three hours. Some of the guests may have slight difficulty in breathing due to thin air at the altitude of above 5000 meters.
Kalapatthar is situated as a brown bulge at the bottom of Mt. Pumori, and provides exotic view of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest and its surrounding area. After a while, we descend towards Gorakshep for about an hour, towards our destination for night-lodge, bringing this big day to an end.
  • Day 09: Trek from Gorakshep to Everest Base Camp (5400 m) and return to Lobuche
  • Day nine is a remarkable experience in the whole trip when you would actually reach the Everest Base Camp at an elevation of 5400 meters. The Yak trail passing through the beautiful yak meadows leads you towards the foot of Mount Everest, also passing the Khumbu Glacier on the way. You can have complete rest at the Base camp or then roam safely around, taking photographs and be mesmerized by the untouched and untamed beauty of the Himalayas.
The day ends with the return trek to Lobuche, where you would stay the night.
  • Day 10: Trek from Lobuche to Dingboche
  • Day ten marks the beginning of the descent and the return trek takes a total of about four hours to reach Dingboche, crossing the bridge from Tukla, along the path previously followed for ascent.
  • Day 11: Trek from Dingboche to Tengboche
  • The return trek from Dingboche to Tengboche requires about five hours of descent.
  • Day 12: Trek from Tengboche to Namche
  • This trip would require about four to five hours of descent, and would take you to Namche Bazaar, with access to a multitude of guest houses and lodges, telecommunications, internet and various leisure and traditional Tibetan and modern western medical facilities.
  • Day 13: Trek from Namche to Phakding
  • This trip is an effort towards reaching the airport in Lukla, for a return flight to Kathmandu. The journey takes a trek of about five hours and you can finally enjoy the rest of the day with the local cuisine, spirits and hospitality.
  • Day 14: Trek from Phakding to Lukla
  • Day fourteen marks the final day of your trek. After beginning the return trip from Phakding, a journey of about four hours in the wilderness takes you to Lukla. You take the rest of the day for yourself and enjoy the beautiful scenery in the area and treat yourself with local cuisine, spirits and experience the hospitality yet again.
